Preparing For Your Act

Ask yourself the following questions when deciding your song:

Is/was this song a top 40 song?
Will people know it?

If this is an obscure song, what can I do to keep it entertaining?

If I were in the audience would I want to see this song performed?

Does this song have any negative content towards women, race... etc?
(See Accountability). If it does, am I holding myself accountable?

• What costume possibilities does this song inspire?

The whole point of performing is to entertain.

Being able to entertain the audience takes careful consideration--what looks good and makes sense on stage? If you are not excited about your number,
how can you expect your audience to be?

How long should the song be?

2 1/2 to 5 minutes max!
The more time you have on stage the more you have to do.
You will have the audience’s attention for the first 3 minutes...
after that you have to work HARD FOR IT!
